been re-doing the backend for a while… just diagramming at this point, should have done this a long time ago. started at 10pm, almost midnight now.

too much time spent doing boring stuff.

oh fu-

i just posted a link to my test server on my other tumblr. i forgot that you can access the production server through the test server, exposing the production version of the site to the general public. er, the general tumbling public i mean.

you can access the site by googling, but it’s not really ready for prime time, at all. so i’m rushing a push to production and hoping that nobody notices.

nervous, nervous, nervous.

EDIT: nothing happened, heh

just completed a push to production. and continuing in the fine tradition of early morning pushes… it’s 4:36am.
this little code-cation i had ends in about 5 hours when school starts back up. all in all, a very productive summer - and hopefully, just the start of a very productive fall.
feels kinda weird talking to myself, but it’s a happy feeling. happy with a secret.

3:33am and i'm pushing to production

this is probably a bad idea because something will probably break and i’m too tired to do some serious coding. but the same thing happened last time and i ended up staying up till like 6 or 7 or something ridiculous like that.

but whatever and ever, amen. i love this idea and i’ll give it everything i got. and maybe even some shit i don’t have.

It's all about the physical pieces

So I’m finally starting to discuss my idea with more and more people, and the feedback that I am getting (that my prototype lacks right now) is the following:

- very easy way to upload a lot of pictures. at first i didn’t really like this idea, i don’t think a site that specializes in art should be promoting the user to upload as much content as possible. but then i thought - wait, i’m just going to turn away content? and who am i to judge what is art and what is not? hell, i should just let everyone through up whatever they want on the site and let the visiting public dig what it wants to do. JUST LET GO, basically. no need to play god.

- IT’S ALL ABOUT THE PHYSICAL PIECES. this one i didn’t really imagine was that important until i started demoing the site. digital art is good - but not many people take professional quality photographs (that would interest someone that is not related to you) - so buying that art isn’t that exciting. however, there are tons of painters with tons of art out there. if i can get them to photograph their art, and somehow work in the system to send the packaging to them… that’d be gold.

further refinement of the idea coming along. looking at weekly pushes to the production server, so the iteration process is coming along. in the next few weeks i’ll be cutting back my hours at work in this lull between classes and summer classes.

stay tuned!

made my second official presentation of the CAP concept to a class here at babson today. this time around the response was much, much more encouraging.

great way to start off the week.

code, compile & deploy; easy as one, two, three.
